The Holy Spirit is as much a part of God as Jesus is a part of God. The Holy Spirit is as much a part of the Trinity of God as Jesus is a part of the Trinity of God. The Holy Spirit is all-powerful and, according to Jesus, the Holy Spirit will enable the church to accomplish greater works on the Earth than Jesus did. The Holy Spirit has always been God and will always be God.
There are those in ministry today who think they have the luxury to ignore, avoid and even disavow the Holy Spirit. There are those in ministry who think the Holy Spirit is no longer active in the church today. They believe that somehow man has been left to his own devices to “make things work” and to solve his problems by his own ability. Some Pastors no longer preach on the supernatural. They preach that man is a God unto himself and that the power to change man’s life and make good things happen in this world are “locked up” in the sub-consciousness of man. In other words, man is his own savior.
You have preachers today who are saying on national TV that it is not their responsibility to interpret what the Bible says. Many ministers are buying into and adopting an ecumenical approach to their preaching. It goes something like this “Hey, if that’s what they were taught and if that’s what they believe, then as long as they are sincere in their belief, who am I to tell them anything different”. These same ministers are asked if they believe that Jesus is the only way to get to Heaven. They answer by saying “For me, Jesus is the only way to get to Heaven”. Notice the “For me” part of the answer. It is somewhat subtle but very real in meaning and substance. What this minister is saying in his answer is, “For me, (as I have been taught), Jesus in the only way to get to Heaven (but, for others who have been taught a different way, then that’s OK, and that’s the path they should follow)”.
